EDITORIAL DECISION PAGE

REFEREES
(1) Referees who have been selected to give their opinion about this manuscript are shown here. A referee can be taken off the list by clicking on the (X).
Clicking on the referee name allows updating the referee address.

(2) All current referees not having responded within the given timeframe are marked with a “Send”.
Clicking on “Send” will open another page where a standard e-mail can be sent with a reminder to the selected referees.

OPTIONAL: REGULAR MAIL HANDLING
If you wish to send the reminder by regular mail you mau use the “Download letter” button. A letter file will be downloaded to your computer with the same message; you can then print and send by regular mail to the referee.

(3) You may want to keep track of referee quality. The recommendation can be recorded by clicking on “Add”.

(4) Each time a referee’s report is received the word “Send” appears in the Thank you note column. Click on it to send a personalized or standard thank you note to the referee. Once sent, the date that the note was sent will appear.

EDITOR DECISION
(5) Enter your final decision concerning the acceptability of the contribution. When you select a decision button, the standard e-mail text appears in the text box. This text can be modified in the text window or you can modify any of the basic messages in the “Edit Letters“ menu.

(6) If you need to restart the referee-selection process, click on “Add new referee”. (e.g., in case the initially contacted referee(s) has declined to review the paper)

(7) Clicking on the “Record decision / send e-mail“ button will automatically notify the author by e-mail about the editorial decision. The manuscript record then shifts automatically to the fourth column if the author is asked to revise the manuscript, or it is removed from the control panel to the database of accepted and rejected articles.

(8) For each decision there is a different standard text. Making an editorial decision automatically selects the message that will appear in the text field. You may personalize these messages in the “Edit Letters” menu.

OPTIONAL: REGULAR MAIL HANDLING
(9)Download Letter” enables you to download onto your computer disk a author response letter with recipients address and standard text from your personalized letters database; you can then print and send it with the manuscript hardcopy by regular mail to the referee. Internet Explorer 5.5 or Netscape 7 or later are required for this functionality.
